The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development has created the Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant to help get hard-working people like you into important industries like nursing! This is a financial aid program that can provide significant assistance to adults who are looking to pursue careers that are designated as high need. 91香蕉视频 is proud to work with the Missouri Department of Higher Education to provide this incredible opportunity for eligible recipients.

91香蕉视频’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs have been designated as eligible.

What are the eligibility requirements?听

To be eligible for the Fast Track Workforce Grant, you must:

• Be either
  • 听At least 25 years old OR if you are under 25 and have not been enrolled in any school within the last two years.
  • A student who has not attended high school or a postsecondary school in the last two years.
  • An apprentice who has not been enrolled in a postsecondary program in the last two years, unless the program relates to your current apprenticeship.

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Be a Missouri resident, an active duty member of the U.S. transferred to Missouri, or the spouse of an activity duty military member.听 If you are a student who is a Missouri resident, you must have been a Missouri resident for at least two years prior to receiving the grant.
• Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA), if applicable.
• Have a federal adjusted gross income as documented on your Missouri 1040 tax form (or federal 1040 form if you鈥檙e active duty military) of either:
  • $80,000 or less if your tax filing status is married filing jointly, or
  • $40,000 or less for any other tax filing status.

• For students, enroll in an eligible program at least half-time.
• For apprentices, be formally participating in a U.S. Department of Labor-approved and DHEWD designated apprenticeship and meeting any requirements defined by your apprenticeship provider.
• Have not yet received a bachelor’s degree.

How do I apply for the Fast Track Workforce Incentive Grant?听

2. Complete a FAFSA for the 2022-2023 academic year.
3. Complete the Fast Track Workforce Grant application electronically through the for the 2022-2023 academic year. To access the application, you must create an account in MDHEWD’s Student Portal. Information about the Student Portal is available .

After a nationwide search, the trustees of 91香蕉视频 are pleased to announce that Dr. Amy DeMelo has been chosen as the college’s next president.

“I am honored to have been given this great opportunity,” says Dr. DeMelo. “This is an exciting time to be involved in health care and education, and I’m looking forward to being involved in the many opportunities ahead of 91香蕉视频. We have a wonderful group of people dedicated to making a difference for our students and the community as a whole, and I’m privileged to be part of those efforts.”

While she’s new to the role, Dr. DeMelo is a familiar face at 91香蕉视频. She has served as the college’s vice president for Academic Affairs since 2014, and has led the institution through significant development. Two particular examples include growth of the Master of Science in Nursing and the Master of Occupational Therapy programs, which attract students nationwide.听She has also developed the region’s only night and weekend program for students seeking to earn an Associate of Science in Nursing degree, which is set to begin in January 2018.

Dr. DeMelo will lead 91香蕉视频 through a time of great renewal at the institution. A landmark in the Springfield community since 1907, the college is actively working towards realizing a $6.6 million capital campaign, which will completely revitalize the campus through renovated classroom space, new equipment and greater learning environments. One of Dr. DeMelo’s key goals is to increase enrollment, which will ultimately benefit the region by helping supply more health care professionals locally.

“We are very excited about the ideas and initiatives Dr. DeMelo will champion in her role as president of 91香蕉视频,” says Jan Harris, chair of the 91香蕉视频 Board of Trustees. “We wanted to find the perfect candidate for this position, and even though we looked across the country to find the right fit, we were blessed to find the right person already here at 91香蕉视频.”

Dr. DeMelo’s influence on Springfield’s educational community goes back even further than her time at 91香蕉视频. From 2007 to 2014, Dr. DeMelo served as the director of Springfield Catholic Schools (SCS). While at SCS, Dr. DeMelo helped Springfield Catholic High School become nationally recognized as one of the top 50 in the country. She also led a $13.9 million dollar renovation and expansion of the high school campus, and added a three-year-old preschool program to the school system.

On a personal note, Dr. DeMelo was raised in southern New England. She has degrees in history and administration, as well as an Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was selected as one of the Springfield Business Journal’s Most Influential Women in 2010, and is an alumna of the Leadership Springfield Class 24.

Dr. DeMelo lives in Springfield with her three children.

For 110 years, training within the walls of 91香蕉视频 has transformed students into medical professionals. Now, in preparation for the greatest need healthcare has seen in recent history, the those walls are getting some attention. The college is launching a $6.6 million capital campaign to update its facilities and expand its abilities to train medical professionals on Springfield鈥檚 north side.

鈥淭housands of 鈥楤aby Boomers鈥� are retiring every single day in the United States, which will make the demand for health care workers very great over the next few years,鈥� says Dr. Robert Lunn, interim president of 91香蕉视频. 鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited about the changes and improvements coming to 91香蕉视频 because we believe they will allow us to prepare increased numbers of health care workers for the need that鈥檚 here now and coming soon.鈥�

The renovations touch all four floors of 91香蕉视频, which is connected to Cox North Hospital. The lower level will incorporate a new student lounge area to encourage social interaction and relationship development between lines of study. The first floor will be totally focused on students services, featuring areas for registration, financial aid, student government and book store services. The academic floors will hold student study and activity spaces, new conference and group learning rooms, as well as larger classrooms for intended growth.

Outside, the exterior will receive a new fa莽ade that will incorporate legacy elements, including George Kieffer鈥檚 鈥淗elping Hands鈥� tile mural. The mural will be preserved, and a nearby fountain 鈥� reminiscent of many once present on the Cox North campus 鈥� will be restored. 鈥淭hose elements are very important to us, as they鈥檙e things that our alumni value and represent our long history,鈥� says Lunn.

Indeed, that history goes deep. Begun as Burge Deaconess Training School in 1907, the college has expanded over the years to offer much more than just nursing.

In addition to undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing, 91香蕉视频 offers radiologic technology and diagnostic imaging, medical assisting, as well as master鈥檚 degrees in Nutrition Diagnostics and Occupational Therapy. The college is approved for more nursing students than any other similar college in the region 鈥� but with the proposed improvements, the aim is to increase how many students the Missouri State Board of Nursing will allow the college to accept.

鈥淩ight now, we鈥檙e allowed to accept 250 new nursing students every year,鈥� says Lunn. 鈥淲e鈥檙e hoping, after these improvements, to have our cap changed to 275 and eventually 300. The goal is to prepare for the growing need for nurses as our communities expand and require more health care.鈥�

The college鈥檚 campaign was launched a month ago by the 91香蕉视频 Foundation. In that short period of time, several lead donors have already contributed $1.4 million to the construction project.

鈥淭he college was a gift to us in 1907 out of a great demand for nursing care at that time,鈥� says Lisa Alexander, president of the 91香蕉视频 Foundation. 鈥淭oday, donors are reinvesting in this campus, appreciating that without the health professionals it graduates, we could face critical shortages in our hospitals and healthcare settings. As a not-for-profit organization, 91香蕉视频 is here to serve southwest Missouri by providing a resource that improves all of our lives.
